In this lesson you’ll learn a solo to a blues rhumba, a groove that has a Latin tinge. Unlike Orville’s other lead guitar lessons, which demonstrate soloing over vocal melodies, this blues rhumba is an instrumental, so the phrasing is a little different, and it includes the melody played up the neck, a solo, and the melody in a lower octave. Orville gives advice on finding melodies in different octaves, working out of chord positions, phrasing, varying the melody, and improvising. In this first video, Orville plays the entire piece and walks you through the melody in both octaves.
