The Glory of Love, Part 2: Simple Fingerstyle Patterns and More
You just need four simple chords to play “The Glory of Love”: C, C7, F, and G. You can play “The Glory of Love” by simply strumming those chords. But if you want to go a little further, Marcy teaches you how to play two fingerstyle patterns. The first one is the pinch pattern, which uses your thumb on the fourth string, your middle finger on the first string, and your index finger on the second string. You can also play a finger roll, which alternates the thumb with the fingers in a simple rolling finger pattern. Marcy demonstrates and breaks each pattern down for you. You’ll also learn a few other techniques: double stops (two melody notes played at the same time), sliding chords, a short harmonized scale lick, and a couple chord variations. These are all included, along with the lyrics to “The Glory of Love” and some information about Big Bill Broonzy, in the downloadable PDF at right.
