Cathy Fink is a multi-Grammy Award–winning artist, specializing in roots music. Her career includes 50 years of performing, teaching and recording, with 50 albums to her credit, 14 Grammy nominations, and 60 Washington Area Music Awards (WAMMY Awards). Cathy’s love of guitar began in the 1960s, playing pop and folk tunes, and by the 1970s included bluegrass, old-time, swing, and Celtic styles. She tours and records with her partner, Marcy Marxer, traveling throughout the US, Canada, Japan, China, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, the British Isles, Israel, and South Africa.
Cathy has taught guitar, banjo, ukulele, harmony singing, and more at Steve Kaufman’s Acoustic Kamp, Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, the Augusta Workshops, Swannanoa Gathering, and many other camps. She co-directs the Strathmore Ukefest, Ola Belle Reed Songwriting Competition, and the Mike Seeger Commemorative Old-Time Banjo Festival, which is now an annual online event. She is the 2021 IBMA Mentor of the Year and has worked for 20 years at the Music Center at Strathmore as an advisor and musical director in the Artist-in-Residence Program.
